For YEARS I have been buying the family size frozen lasagna from the store. My family likes lasagna, but for some reason I always thought it was complicated to make. It wasn’t until recently that I attempted to make my own. My neighbor who is also my friend spoiled our family last month with a big dish of her homemade lasagna. After that night I was determined to make homemade lasagna too!
Not only is lasagna easy to make, it also tastes way better than the frozen stuff I have been buying all this time. Below is my recipe for lasagna:
Easy Lasagna Recipe |
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 2 jars marina sauce
- 2 cups finely shredded Mozzarella cheese
- 1 15oz container Ricotta cheese
- 12 lasagna noodles – cooked
- 1 TSP Italian seasoning
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- In a skillet over medium heat, add ground beef and Italian seasoning. Brown ground beef and drain fat.
- Add 1 1/2 jars of marinara sauce to skillet and simmer on low for 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, add ricotta cheese, 1 1/2 cups of Mozzarella cheese and egg. Mix until blended.
- In a 13×9 casserole/baking dish add about 1/4 cup of the remaining jar of marina sauce to bottom of dish and spread.
- Place 3 lasagna noodles in dish and add 1/3 of sauce/meat mixture. Sprinkle with Parmesan Cheese, then 1/3 of cheese mixture.
- Repeat layers above 2 times.
- Add remaining layer of lasagna noodles, then pour remaining marina sauce from jar.
- Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Remove and cover top with remaining 1/2 cup Mozzarella cheese. Bake uncovered an additional 15-20 minutes until cheese is completely melted.
- Remove from oven, cool, cut and serve!
For those that have never made lasagna, once you make it, you will always want to make it this way!

I’ve only made a “veggie” lasagna, but my boys and will really like one with meat! Thanks for sharing this totally do-able recipe!

My recipe is similar except I use cottage cheese instead of ricotta.
I have also made a crockpot lasagna recipe.

My family loves lasagna. I normally make a lasagna casserole instead. Maybe I’ll put that on the list for next week.

I’m not a fan of the frozen lasagna so when we have it it’s because I made it (or someone else did). But your recipe sounds like it’s really simple and quicker than mine – I’ll have to give it a try one night!

I love Lasagna, I actually served it on Thanksgiving day at my house. I like that it can be made up in advance and just tossed in the oven. We usually have a hectic morning that day so I made it easy. I like that you can add just about anything you like to lasagna, it’s one of those “blank canvas” meals, kind of like pizza!
