Just last month I went over the data on my cell phone plan. I hate when that happens because I don’t like paying any more on my cell phone bill than I have to. I had received a notice that I was about to go over but never really payed attention to just how much mobile data I use on my phone as well as the Wi-Fi data.
I am now using My Data Manager, an app that provides data usage monitoring tools to help people like me to save money on their cell phone bills.
Free app to track data usage
Just until this week you could only use the app to track data on one device. The My Data Manager now allows you to track data usage across all users of your shared or family plan. Those who are a part of the plan create a group within the app and link their usage. The app then offers an accurate and collective view of data usage.
Don’t worry about setting up the app on the day your data resets, you can add the amount of data you have already used. This makes it easy to install the app at anytime during the month.
Once you setup your plan you can start tracking the mobile data that is being used at well as the Wi-Fi data. I like that you can see the current amount of data you used for the data, how much the app thinks you will use for the day as well as the total amount used.
The information that the app provides can be very helpful.The My Data Manager not only tracks the individual and shared data usage to help protect against overage fees, the app can also identify which apps are consuming the most data. You can also use the Map feature to show what areas each day that your data is being used.
Now when I am using my phone I am going to be alerted when I have exceeded my plan. You can also setup the alarm on the app to shut off data automatically after consuming 80% of your plan. If you are using a shared plan with children, this is a handy app to have to make sure that everyone isn’t going over and you don’t end up with a bill you didn’t expect.

This is a great app to have. luckily I have unlimited usage but I know some who do not. I will have to let them know about this.
My two oldest share a plan and some months I get drug into the arguments. This is going to make sharing data so much easier on everyone!
