Last week I attended Disneynature’s Chimpanzee Red Carpet World Premiere. Even before I was able to watch the film at the theater, I knew I was going to enjoy the film Chimpanzee just from watching the trailer.
For those that have not heard about this film, Chimpanzee is a story of a cute baby chimp named Oscar and his group of chimps that live in the Tai National Park, a rain forest located in the West Africa’s Ivory Coast. During this documentary the camera crew catches baby Oscar’s approach to life from once being a playful chimp that learns almost everything from his mom, to losing her and having to survive on this own.
I loved every second of this film. I am one that usually enjoys animal documentaries, but this one is special to me. I think I find this film kind of special because I am a mom and watching Oscar lose his mom made me feel for him and want him to find a special bond with another chimp like he had with his mom at the beginning of the film.
Take a peek at one of my favorite parts of Chimpanzee:
I was also amazed at just how close the camera crew got to this family of chimps and the amazing footage that was actually captured. I also learned that some thoughtful planning went into the making of this film and that it took this crew over 3 years of observing these chimps to get the footage they needed to complete their film.
I will say at the end, I wanted to learn more about Oscar and what happened to the rest of the family. I don’t want to give you all the details of this film, because I want to you go see it. Chimpanzee is now playing in theaters and a portion of each ticket’s proceeds purchased during opening week (April 20 to April 26) will be donated to the Jane Goodall Institute to help SAVE CHIMPS!
Disclosure β I received an invitation to take a trip to Florida for the Red Carpet Premiere of Chimpanzee as a guest of Disney and Global Resort Homes. This post is not a paid post and the opinions stated herein are 100% my own.
