When it comes to cold drinks, one of my favorites would have to be a nice FRESH smoothie. This summer, I spent quite a bit of time whipping up homemade smoothies in the comfort of my own kitchen. At the beginning of the summer I thought that I was going to be the only one wanting one of my homemade smoothies. To my surprise, I was in the kitchen longer than expected making my husband and kids smoothies too! While it is nice to spoil yourself by visiting the local ice cream shop for a smoothie, it is even better to make your own. You can not only save yourself some money, but you can make them exactly how you want them. When you have a large family like me, it sometimes makes more sense just to stay at home and make it yourself…..
I recently have had the opportunity to try out the Back to Basics Brushed Chrome Smoothie Elite. This is what you would call a blender designed especially to make smoothies. This now happens to be one of my FAVORITE kitchen appliances. Not only does it make smoothies, I have had the chance to use it for other things too! Just last week I was making spaghetti and had some fresh tomatoes a friend had gave me from his garden. I put my jar of sauce in the Smoothe Elite and added the tomatoes (cleaned and cut in chunks of course) into the machine. It blended my sauce perfectly and everyone complimented me on my sauce. I will now be adding fresh tomatoes when using canned sauce in the future + my smoothie machine!
When it comes to my Smoothie Elite, my favorite part is the dispenser. Since I have a toddler, I love being able to push the dispensing valve and pour him a small amount in one of his little cups. Of course, you can use it to pour any amount, it just works perfect for me. It also has a cool stir stick that I have never seen offered with a regular blender.
Here are some of the features of the Smoothie Elite:
- Brushed chrome-look finish
- 56-ounce jar
- Includes heavy duty ice-crushing blades
- Dispensing valve and stir stick (my fav)
- Includes 500-watt pulse-power motor
- Dimensions: 18″H x 7.5″W x 8.5″D
If you are looking for something to make drinks with, I totally recommend this product! You can buy the Back to Basics Brushed Chrome Smoothie Elite at Cookware.com for only $39.99. This would make for a great Christmas gift too!

Andrew and I love smoothies. I’ve been thinking about getting a smoothie maker because of the additional features that make them better than a blender for it. This one is so pretty too.

It is pretty! I have it sitting proudly on my kitchen counter. Even the hubby has used it a couple times and thinks it is cool! (SCORE)

I love smooties! I usually use my blender but I would like to have a specific one just for smoothies and such! That and the fact that I really do like the feature of the spout to pour. Very convenient and less messy! Hey what a neat idea~ your sauce. Who knew? lol Hope to see you post some recipes of your sauce and some other things you can do with your new machine! Thanks for posting this!
