The last couple days I have seen so many pictures of devastation. I woke up yesterday to read about the millions without power and all the homes, business and buildings that been destroyed and damaged during Superstorm Sandy has caused. While I have always dreamed of living on the east coast one day, these crazy storm stories make me want to take shelter and stay as far away as I can.

During these times, there are so many people that don’t have any time of emergency fund. Having some sort of emergency fun is extremely important, especially when you have children that rely on your support.

Yes, we had a sewage back up in our basement and had to replace the flooring and walls. It was disgusting!

When the last vestages of hurricane Sandy hit Northern NY, we lost power from late Monday night until early evening yesterday, thankful our neighbors let us use their computer and take a shower. We used some of our savings/emergency funds to eat dinner out since we couldn’t cook at home. Not much damage done- one of our sheds got the roof torn off, neighbor’s dog is missing.
