As I mentioned before, I took a trip this past weekend (courtesy of Crayola) to New York City with my daughters Ariyona and Hailey to what was called the Crayola VIP*NYC Pop Art Pixies Premiere Party Weekend. When I first got the invitation I looked at my email in SHOCK. I was so excited that I was being invited by Crayola, that is HUGE to me. I immediately woke my husband up to share the great news. I then was thrilled all day and didn’t want to share the news with anyone else in fears that something may go wrong. I didn’t want to say “jinx” anything. I live in California. I have been here my whole LIFE and the farthest I had ventured in my whole 34 years east would be Nevada. Yeah, I don’t get out too often. So let’s say that an invitation to the BIG APPLE was more of say a DREAM.
Ariyona & Hailey (Chicago Airport)
So this past Friday my two daughters (Ariyona & Hailey) and I head to the Sacramento Airport and fly off to NYC. It was my first time flying, but I let my excitement to going to New York overcome being nervous of flying. I was one of those people who said “I am never going to fly”. But when an opportunity like this is presented to you, sometimes your way of thinking might just change a bit. With our flight being so long, we had to change planes at the Chicago Airport. We thought this airport was pretty cool, compared to the boring airport here in Sacramento.
Once we arrived at the LaGuardia Airport, we were greeted by Heather from Crayola and taken to the W Hotel in Times Square with a few other moms and their daughters. Once we walked into the hotel, we immediately went to the 5th floor where we are greeted by the friendly staff who gave us t-shirts, tote bags with our Crayola Pixie avatars on them as well as a key to our hotel room. We were excited to see that were were staying on the 22nd floor.
(Getting our Pop Art Pixie Swag)
Since we were not dressed to impress yet, me and the girls went up to our rooms to freshen up and get ready for the evening. See tonight was the VIP Pop Art Pixie Premiere Party Dinner and we all had new outfits for the evening. Once we got ready we headed back to the 5th floor where the girls then go to walk the “Pink Carpet” and get a few moments of fame when they got to talk on a microphone and be photographed by a real camera crew. Very cool!
(Hailey & Ariyona on the Pink Carpet)
Ariyona and Hailey did get a little camera shy, but that was okay. The girls were definitely not prepared for this type of VIP treatment just yet. After the “Pink Carpet”, we then sat down to eat with the rest of the VIP Pop Art Pixie group. I was so excited to see the other mommy bloggers and daughters as this was my first time doing anything like this before.
We had a buffet style dinner and then it was time to do some of the new Crayola Pop Art Pixie crafts. This was not just craft time for the kids either, you should have seen all of us moms making these cute crafts too! Our first craft was the Crayola Pop Art Pixie’s Create A Water Bottle. With this craft, we all got to decorate our own aluminum water bottle. My daughters and I really enjoyed this craft because we LOVE to drink water and this will really come in handy here at home.
During this evening we also did a couple of the other Crayola Pop Art Pixie crafts that included decorating our own glass plates and painting our own birdhouse wind chimes. After these crafts were done, the girls all got together and took a group picture.
Once the group pictures were taken, we headed to our room to take a shower and get some beauty rest for the next morning that was told to be full of surprises. Stay tuned for my next post to find out what exactly we did the next day!
Below are the Crayola crafts we made on this evening……..
