I received a complimentary stay at The Ridge Tahoe in exchange for this review. No monetary compensation was received and all thoughts and opinions state are my own.
This month sure has been a busy month. First I was able to take a trip to Florida for a few days which was fun. Just last week I had the opportunity to stay at The Ridge Tahoe, a resort in Lake Tahoe that is an AWESOME place for those looking for a great little getaway. This resort is on 11 acres on a mountain, the only resort like it in Lake Tahoe.
Before I tell you more about the resort’s amenities, I want to show you where I stayed.
We stayed in the Tower, their tallest building that features their 1 bedroom condos. We were on the 6th floor and had a pretty neat view that consisted of some of Carson City and a little of the resort itself. The Tower building/area features BBQ Grills with patio area, a jacuzzi and a sauna. From whatever room you stay in at in this building, you are going to have a good view from your own private balcony.
Once I checked into the resort and got my key, I was really excited to get inside my room. I had seen the pictures of the rooms on the website and was anxious to see it in person. As soon as we walked inside, my oldest daughter said “I could live here”.
I loved that there were 2 sofas and it was so spacious. In the living area is also a fireplace in case it gets chilly. No vacation is fun without movies so I was happy to see a DVD player because we bought some of our favorite Disney movies to watch at night before bedtime.
Since I LOVE to cook, I was really impressed with the kitchen. My kitchen at home is fairly small and the kitchen here was large, equipped with all the appliances, dishes, plates and silverware that I could need and beautiful. I love the granite countertops and all the open space. Luckily I came prepared for food, this kitchen got it’s use!
In addition to the kitchen area, right next to it is another little bar area with an additional sink and glasses. There is also a dining room area that has a table to seat six. What is neat about the dining area is the windows that give you a great view while you are enjoying your meal.
Now this isn’t just a room that I stayed in. This is a 1 bedroom suite that has a LARGE Sleep Number bed along with a flat screen TV with DVD player. This bed was so big that me and my 3 children that I brought could all lay in it and watch tv. In addition to this bed, there is a bed inside the sofa in the living room area of this suite. This room sleeps quite a few people!
When we weren’t in the room, we were looking on the resort for things to do to keep the kids busy. It was fun just walking around, taking pictures and seeing my kids smiles. The Ridge Tahoe is part of The Ridge Resorts and has a variety of activities and amenities for both the kids and the adults. Since this place is on 11 acres, there is a handy little shuttle that runs back in forth to take you to the different areas of the resort that the kids found entertaining to ride too!
Here is a list of the things I found available to keep the kids busy and having fun
- Movie Theater – A small theater that plays 2 complimentary movies each night.
- Playgrounds – Two fun areas for the kids to get some of that energy out.
- Pools – 2 large pools including one that has an indoor section of the pool that is heated!
- Miniature golf – A little range for those little golf enthusiasts.
- Kids Zone – An area in the Club House with an arcade, shuffleboard and ping pong room.
- Tennis Kids Clinic – Classes for both kids and teens as well as adults.
- Rock Climbing – For those ages 13 & up, there are classes for rock climbing.
These are just some of the ideas that I found that would entertain all my children. When you visit The Ridge Resorts, they have Summer Activities available depending on the age. For the younger children, they have a complimentary Kids Club where you the kids can make different crafts and activities. For the older children, they can participate in fun things like scavenger hunts, hiking, play shuffleboard, play some hoops or maybe play some games in the Family Game Room that includes both Wii and Xbox systems.
For the adults, there is plenty of things to keep you entertained. If you don’t want to bring your own food they have they Hungry Bear Restaurant as well as the Ridge Club Deli that has sandwich options as well as take-n-bake pizza options. Since the kitchens have a full-service kitchen, you can order take-n-bake pizza and make it in the luxury of your own room at the resort. Inside the Club House, you will also find the Market Place that has souvenirs, soda/drinks and other food options in case you forgot to bring your munchies.
Since we all LOVE to swim, I was happy to find out that The Ridge Tahoe has 2 full size pools. One of the pools is located at the Club House and includes an indoor pool that we took advantage of. Since it was windy when we were swimming, the indoor section was perfect. It is only 3 feet deep, so also perfect for my 5 year old to stand in.
If you don’t like to swim, there are plenty of outdoor and indoor activities that you can take part in. The Ridge Tahoe has a really cool Indoor Sports Court where you can play tennis and basketball. If you prefer to be outdoors, they have a hiking trail for those that like to walk and see the beauty of Lake Tahoe and all it’s nature. For those that want to relax, there are plenty of saunas and jacuzzis at this resort. I spent some time in the jacuzzi by my building the night before I left, very relaxing!
Now if you do happen to get bored and you want to go into town, there is a handy shuttle that will take you into the main town of Lake Tahoe where you can go shopping or maybe spend a little money at the casinos. I didn’t take advantage of the free shuttle service since I was only there a short time, but for those that are staying longer, this is a great way to see Lake Tahoe without having to drive your own vehicle.
If you don’t want to get away from the resort, take advantage of the computers with internet access or maybe grab a book of the book shelf to keep you entertained. For those that like to be pampered, this resort has a spa too that offers massages, facials and other body treatments.
I like to take pictures, so this place was perfect to get some fun shots of my kids in the outdoors!
While I stayed at The Ridge Tahoe I actually took a TON of photos and videos. I took photos on both my cell phone along with my Nikon D5100. I put together a quick little video of some of pictures that I took so that you can see more of this beautiful resort and see just what you can do with your family while you are there.
My thoughts on this resort was I LOVED it. My time there went incredibly fast and I wish I would have got to stay at least a week. This place is perfect for both couples and families. For those looking to get married, this resort has a wedding garden that you might want to take a peek at.
