I took Hannah to the doctor last week for a routine visit. I asked them to check her eyes because the school had sent home a note asking me to have me make an appointment with my doctor to check her vision. Before we got to appointment, I had a feeling they were going to say that Hannah needed glasses. Well the nurse does one of those tests where they have you read letters. When Hannah they covered Hannah’s left eye, she had problems reading the letters. Inside I panicked a little. You never want anything to be wrong with your children, especially your vision.
So the nurse makes an appointment with the optical services department. I take Hannah two days later to have her eyes fully checked out. Just as I thought, she needs glasses. I guess she really needs them because the doctor says she has to wear them full time. Hannah is excited about it and I am hoping that these glasses is going to help her improve at school. I am glad that glasses today are not as nerdy as they were thought of when I was a child. They also have name brand frames available by brands like Juicy Couture, Lucky Brand, Disney, Converse and more! Hannah definitely had FUN trying all the different glasses on.
I will be posting a picture of Hannah in her new glasses when she gets them!

Hey! They gave me that letter at my daughter’s pre-school as well, but she ended up having only a slight stigmatism or something like that, which they claim was normal for that age. Anyway she didn’t need glasses though. Will have her checked in a year again at age 4. Your daughter looks cute in them and I’m glad to hear she didn’t ‘make a fuss lol and you’re right, glasses are much more fashionable these days!!

My parents ignored all the messages the school sent home because they had 2 older kids who said they needed glasses and who didn’t. However I did need them – badly. I am so glad you had her checked!

I too have went through this with my children. You are doing great by being so positive about it. Unfortunately peers aren’t always so nice about it. Therefore, by you being very positive it evens out things and you make her feel confident. Her peers are much less likely to comment rudely if she is positive and confident with them. By the way I think she looks adorable!
