Have you heard? There’s a new condition going around this season. It’s called ‘Layaway Regret.’ Experts describe it as feeling the opposite of the common condition ‘buyer’s remorse.’ Many have experience symptoms of general discomfort, mental anguish and a longing feeling. The main cause of ‘Layaway Regret’ is excuses. Lucky for you, we’ve debunked every excuse in the book:
Excuse #1: I’ve never done Layaway before, it seems like too much effort.
Debunked: It’s all in your head. At Kmart, Layaway is not hard work. Whether you have 1 or 100 items , you can Layaway almost everything on your list without paying a service fee through 11/23. Plus, you can pay in store, online or using a mobile phone. Eight or 12 weeks later (depending on your contract) pick up your items and you’re good to go! Bonus: After you figure out how easy it is, you can Layaway all year round at Kmart!
Excuse #2: I don’t have time during the Holiday season to Layaway.
Debunked: Plan now with Layaway, get your holiday shopping done early, pay for it over time and have it just in time for gift giving! Go ahead and ask your family and friends what they want this year and start making your list. The sooner you Layaway, the better chance you have at getting the hottest toys and electronics locked away before everyone else. Bonus: You can relax over the holidays and avoid crazy lines!
Excuse #3: I’m not a ShopYourWay Member.
Debunked: That’s hardly an excuse since signing up for the Sears and Kmart rewards program, ShopYourWay only takes a few minutes (www.shopyourway.com). You don’t need to be a ShopYourWay Rewards Member to use Kmart Layaway, but you will get MORE. Members earn points on every purchase that can be redeemed next time you shop (look for chances to get more points)! Members also have access to secret sales and extra discounts which helps you stay close to your holiday budget. If you’re opening a Layaway contract as a ShopYourWay Member, we’ll also waive your minimum purchase fee through 9/21.
Now that your excuses have been dismissed, you have no reason to suffer from ‘Layaway Regret’. It’s time to make your list, check it twice and make a Layaway that’s really nice!
I have personally used Kmart layaway before and think its a great option for those looking to get a head start on holiday shopping. Kmart was actually my second job years ago and working in the layaway department was one of my favorite positions there!
Will you be using layaway this year for your holiday shopping?

I think that we may do a layaway this year – mostly so that I can do the shopping in advance, but no one in my house is able to snoop for the presents. 🙂

Liz @ A Nut in a Nutshell says
I’m way too lazy to do all in-store layaway, but I love the idea of doing it online. I tried that at Kmart a couple years ago and it worked out well.
Janel says
I’ve never done layaway but really sounds like I should be! So smart to shop early and pay a bit each month instead of having a ton to pay for come december! Plus, then it is easier to hide from the kids, right, if I don’t have it stashed in my closet for months.

Christy Garrett @ Uplifting Families says
I used to put items on Layaway for my kids. There isn’t a Kmart in my area and I am bummed that our walmart stopped doing this a few years ago.
trisha says
I think layaway is a great idea. I dont care if someone “can afford it” slow paying makes it seem so less harsh in the end!

I actually saw the commercials for the free layaway and have been debating when I can get over there, but maybe I will just go online to set up my Kmart layaway this year!

I don’t know if we’ll use it this year, but we have used it in the past and it’s very helpful.

I’m probably in the minority, I’ve never actually used layaway before. I never really understood why I should use it but you definitely made some good points.
