I was invited to the #ABCTVEvent. Costs and expenses for my trip were covered. All opinions expressed are my own.
This past month I have been posting about my trip to Los Angeles and all the fun things I got to do and the people I was able to meet and interview. One of my most favorite parts of the trip was our trip to Walt Disney Animation Studios to have a cocktail hour.
Once we arrived at the studio we were led to the outside terrace where we we able to mix and mingle with some of the “Moms Of ABC”. These are actresses on different shows produced by ABC who are real-life moms or play the role of a mom. Here is the lineup of the moms that we got to hang out with for hour that went by to fast.
- Wendi McLendon-Covey – The Goldbergs
- Amanda Fuller – Last Man Standing
- Ming-Na Wen – Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
- Patricia Heaton – The Middle
- Frankie Shaw – Mixology
- Alexis Carra – Mixology
- Toks Olagundoye – The Neighbors
- Jami Gertz – The Neighbors
- Malin Akerman – Trophy Wife
While we are chatting with these ladies, there were drinks and food that were being served. I ordered a drink but never got a chance to try the food. The “Moms Of ABC” had my attention over the food. While I didn’t get to individually chat with all of the moms mentioned above, I did get to sit down with four of them, chat about our lives and even take some pictures.
When Malin Akerman sat down right next to me I was so amazed. Just a few months prior I was searching Hulu for shows to watch and found “Trophy Wife“. I watched the first episode and was hooked. If you watch the show, she is just as funny and charming in person as on the show.
During my chat with Malin we discussed her role on the show along with some of my favorite scenes. Malin also shared how she loves being a mom now and how she is able to bring her son to the set and how the cast is like family.

Next Toks Olagundoye from “The Neighbors” sat down to chat. I will admit that I hadn’t seen any episodes of “The Neighbors” prior to my trip. When talking with Toks Olagundoye, her accent is what first got my attention.
Toks told us about how she grew up in Nigeria and how she moved to the United States to go to school and start a career. After chatting with Toks, I wanted to watch the show and even had a little “The Neighbors” marathon the next weekend just for her. We have been keeping in touch via Twitter…
What I found neat was finding out that my nine year old daughter has been a fan of the show. When I told my daughter I was going to watch “The Neighbors” Season One in a weekend, she already knew all about the show, the cast and even knew who Toks was. I had to let Toks know that my daughter was a fan and here is a little tweet she sent for my daughter.
The next mom to sit next to me was Patricia Heaton. Right now she plays Frankie on “The Middle“, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE her from Everybody Loves Raymond. When she sat next to me, I wanted to hug her.
When Patricia sat down and started chatting, the conversation came so easy. While we did discuss her role in The Middle, we had more fun talking about our own personal lives and our kids. While we were chatting, she would nudge me with her elbow which made me feel like we were friends!
Next and last to sit and chat with my group was Amanda Fuller who plays Kristin Baxter on “Last Man Standing“.
As soon as Amanda sat down she asked us where we were from. I mentioned Sacramento and it was a go. Not only was I from Sacramento and Dawn, another blogger from our group, but Amanda was originally from Sacramento too. I think she mentioned moving out of Sacramento when she was around nine, but mentioned some fun times she has had coming back to visit.
Here is a cute picture of me and Jami Gertz who currently plays Debbie Weaver in “The Neighbors”. She is such a great and funny actress that I wish I would have had time to ask her some questions…
Here is a picture I took with Patrica Heaton with Frankie Shaw and Alexis Carra from “Mixology”.
Our cocktail hour at the studio definitely went by too fast! I would have enjoyed having an hour to chat with each one of these ladies individually but I will take what I can get. I got some memories that will last a lifetime as well as some very cool photos to brag with.
One thing I am really enjoying is how active some of these celebrities are on Twitter like Malin and Toks who like to interact with their fans. I felt pretty special once I got home and got a reply from my favorite Trophy Wife!
