This is a partnered post for Hillshire Farm. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
Now that school is back in session, I am back into lunch making mode. My kids do enjoy eating the school’s lunch on some days bu there are many days when they want to pack their own lunch. I have the school cafeteria calendar on the fridge and when they see a meal on the calendar that they know they don’t want to eat, they let mom know they would like to bring lunch instead.
When it comes to sandwich meat, all sandwich meat is not the same. While I really enjoy having fresh sandwich meat cut from the deli, that isn’t always the affordable way to go when you have a large family. This week I found the new Hillshire Farm Naturals lunchmeat at Walmart and I couldn’t wait to take it home to try it.
The NEW Hillshire Farm Naturals contains NO artificial ingredients, preservatives and no added nitrates. This quality lunchmeat is available in four varieties including Slow Roasted Turkey Breast, Hardwood Smoked Turkey Breast, Honey Roasted Ham and Black Forest Ham. This line of lunchmeat is new so my Walmart only had two varieties available and I grabbed one of each.
What I have found is my kids LOVE fun shaped sandwiches. If you have cookie cutters, you can use them to make creative sandwiches for your kids. Since Halloween is this month, I got out the ghost cookie cutter and made a ghost shaped sandwich with the new Hillshire Farm Naturals that I purchased. My daughter was so excited when I gave her a ghost turkey and cheese sandwich to add to her lunch.
Before I made the cute shaped sandwiches for the kids, I had to try out the lunchmeat first. I decided to give it a try and made a Grilled Ham & Cheese Panini Sandwich that included the Hillshire Farm Black Forest Ham. It came out delicious and I can’t wait to make another.
I have tried two out of four of the Hillshire Farm Naturals varieties and I am impressed and want to try the other two flavors that wasn’t available yet. I am always looking for meat that taste fresh like the meat that you can have cut in the deli and this comes pretty close. The Naturals come in a black, double-sealed tub with a suggested retail price of $4.48.
Here is the Hillshire Farm Naturals Black Forest Ham…
Here is the Hillshire Farm Naturals Slow Roasted Turkey…
Since this meat contains no artificial ingredients, preservatives or colors and no added nitrites/nitrates except those occurring naturally in celery juice, I feel like it is a great choice for the kid’s sandwiches for lunch as well as my own! The Hillshire Farm Naturals is the natural choice for moms this back-to-school season!
Do your children bring lunch to school? What do you pack for them?

I have no children and I am single and semi retired so I eat lunch (when I remember) at home most days. I have never tried the Hillshire Farm Naturals but they sound and look good. I love the idea of cutting the bread into different shapes–what fun!

I’m going to give these a try. I love lunch meat, but all the processed brands out there give me terrible headaches. This could be the answer!

I make sandwiches for the family all the time. It’s nice to see a natural option that isn’t a zillion dollars in the deli counter. Love it!
Dawn says
I already love Hillshire Farm, so I’m glad to see they’ve come out with a natural variety. Lunch meat is yummy, but its’ got all kinds of nitrites, nitrates, and other horrible stuff in it. Now I can enjoy lunch meat without all of that.

OMG the other day my mom and I had this huge argument over whether the Hillshire Farms containers were the ones she bought for my sister in college. Finally, I had to show her online that Hillshire Farms sells their products in them. It was hilarious.

We love sandwiches in this house! I’ll have to watch for a sale and try these. My kid is a teen now and isn’t as crazy about me cutting his sandwiches as he used to be, but once in a while for a special occasion is still fun. And my nephew loves my dinosaur sandwich cutters.
Your Panini makes me said though! My mom bought me a Panini maker for Christmas a few years ago, and the cat knocked it off the counter not too long ago. I really need to get another!

I have not tried these yet, I will have to grab some next time I am at the store. My son would love the fun shaped sandwiches.
