The support doesn’t end with just the bandages either. BAND-AID® Brand is the presenting sponsor of Team Red, White & Blue’s Old Glory Coast to Coast Relay. Now through November 9th runners will carry an American flag 3,800 miles across the country to help raise awareness and funds in support of the veteran communities in America.

My grandfather Walton Edward Skinner Sr was in the Air Force and served in both the Korean War and the Vietnam war as an aircraft mechanic helping to provide our military with supplies. Although my grandfather was not injured during the war, he could have been. He risked his life going overseas where the war was happening to bring those supplies. Once his time was over with the U.S. Air Force, he then joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve and spent many years on the military base working on airplanes.
My uncle Walton Edward Skinner Jr has been part of the U.S. Armed Forces for over 25 years. He first served in the Navy and was on the USS Princeton during the Gulf War. His ship was attacked and hit by mines but luckily he was unharmed as well. I remember being a freshman in high school watching the war on the a TV screen in my history class praying that my uncle was going to be okay. After Desert Storm my uncle joined the US Coast Guard where he currently works in Search & Rescue helping those lost at sea. My grandmother tells me that people come from all around to thank my uncle for helping rescue them.
Being a part of the military definitely comes with many sacrifices! Knowing that both my grandfather and uncle have risked their lives to protect our country and others makes me proud. When I see big companies like the BAND-AID® Brand helping veterans it puts a smile on my face.
