One thing that many people always say they want to do is save money. For those of you that work hard for that money, it can be sad to watch it go away so quickly. Below you will find 10 easy ways to save money!
- Use Coupons – You probably have heard this a million times but using coupons does save you money. Be sure to look for and save any coupons for products that you NORMALLY buy. Don’t save all coupons that you think might be worth saving, just save those coupons on products that you already buy which means that coupon is like money in your wallet. If you don’t get the Sunday paper with the coupon inserts, you can find plenty of printable coupons online. For online coupons, ChameleonJohn is the best resource, it hosts more than 100000 active coupons for many online stores.
- Get Rid Of The Cable Channels – I know this may be hard but give up the expensive cable bill each month. If you have wi-fi internet at home, signup for services like Netflix and Hulu that will only cost you less than $10 per month and you will have access to tons of TV shows and movies anytime you want. Other options for streaming shows online that you might also want to consider would be Amazon Instant Video which offers free movies and shows for those with an Amazon Prime Membership.
- Pay Your Bills On Time – For those that have a bad habit of paying your bills LATE, change those habits and pay them on time. By paying your bills on time you will save money by not receiving any late fees. If you happen to have money in your account all the time and have the money to pay those bills, signup for the auto payment options on those bills that offer the service so that your bills will be paid without you having to lift a finger.
- Use Cash – Make a weekly budget and keep the cash in your wallet each week for the expenses you have planned for. When going shopping, keep your ATM/credit cards at home so that you are tempted to overspend.
- Start A Garden – If you love vegetables and have a backyard, plant and grow the vegetables that you normally buy and use. Buy growing your own vegetables, you are saving on your grocery bill.
- Buy It Used – If you are looking to buy something and you don’t mind that it has been used, you can look on Craigslist for a good buy or even use apps on your phone such as Offer Up to things that people around you are selling for a great deal. When using these types of services, be sure to meet in a public place!
- Cancel The Gym Membership – For those of you with gym memberships that you don’t use or rarely use, cancel that NOW! You can easily work out at home and save yourself that money that you could be using for something else.
- Try To Rent First – For those that like to read and buy books and eBooks, check with your local library first to see if you can rent it first. Did you know that many local libraries rent Kindle books, other ebooks, audiobooks, DVDs and more?
- Ditch The Landline – If you have a cell phone and/or wi-fi then you can save some money by getting ditching that outdated landline phone. If you don’t have unlimited minutes on your cell phone and like to talk you can use services like VOIP when you are online to make all those calls for FREE!
- Buy Only What You Need – This one might be hard but will save you MONEY… Quite overspending and buy only what you need and quite splurging. Don’t go for those buy one get one half off sales when you only need one!

We pretty much have done or are in the process of doing these. We got rid of the cable and land line many years ago. We were able to pay off almost all of the credit card debt we rang up while we were in college. We are finally so close to the finish line!

I got rid of cable about three years ago and have not regretted it. I love that I can still catch my shows but without the high fee. I also love my library. I can try different books, music, videos before making that final purchase.
