As a parent it is our job to take care of our children. We provide our kids with love, a safe home, clothes, food and we also help them get an education to better their future. For some parents paying for private school or homeschooling is the best option but for parents like me that have children in the public school system, we tend to get happy when we hear about programs that have been developed to help our children when we are not with them that come without a cost.
As a parent was excited to hear about Fuel Up To Play 60!
What Is Fuel Up To Play 60
Real California Milk is trying to help our kids eat healthy and get active! They have activated Fuel Up To Play 60, a national campaign by the National Dairy Council and the NFL that has been designed to encourage children to eat nutrient-rich foods and participate in at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
This campaign has a purpose and that is to create sustainable change at schools. It provides a competitive program that has been designed to support schools that implement plays from the 2015-2016 Fuel UP To Play 60 Playbook. These plays can include things like creating a healthy breakfast program at your school to coordinating the 100 Mile Club that challenges students to walk, jog or run 100 miles during a single school year.
This playbook helps to empower students to live a more healthy and active life as well as teach others how they can do the same. Students can track their plays online where they can earn points that they can redeem for rewards for different levels achieved. This program provides activities that kids can participate in as well as the option for them to create their own!
Spring Grant Funding & Get In The Game Challenge
For the schools that need help with funding, the Fuel Up To Play 60 offers grants to California K-12 schools for up to $4,000 that want to support their health and wellness programs. For those interested in applying for a grant, applications will be accepted through June 16, 2015.
In addition to the grants that are available the Central Valley schools and students that are in grades 4th through 10th can participate in the Get In The Game Challenge that is going on now through May 22, 2015. With this challenge the school that has the highest number of sign-ups will receive a celebration event at their school on June 3. This event will feature food, games and some special guests from the San Francisco 49ers. The winning school will also receive a dedicated stadium brick in the Levi’s® Stadium Fanwalk in Santa Clara, CA.
How To Get Involved
The Fuel Up To Play 60 is NOT just for kids. Parents and teachers are also encouraged to join (for FREE) to help their schools make those plays, earn those rewards and help kids to eat healthy and get active at school. By joining you will have access to free tools and resources to help make this campaign a success.
