Last week I visited Shriners Hospitals For Children® in Sacramento with my two youngest children for their On Track For A Safe Summer event that they hosted to help teach and remind our children of some basic safety tips to keep them injury-free this summer.
When we arrived my children received a badge with their superhero name and a safety booklet to fill out at each of the stations that were setup for them to complete. My son’s superhero name was Gallectic Guard and my daughter’s was Super Guard.
They had fun visiting each station, completing the activities and then putting on a star once the station was completed. In addition to the stations there was also fun foods to eat, capes to wear and bubbles to catch!
As a parent there are times that I worry about my children when I am not around to supervise them. Like last month when my daughter had a 5th grade swim party at the public pool with her classmates, I admit to being a little worried. Even though she knows how to swim accidents can happen. This event was great because it helped me have a fun way to remind my kids of some basic tips to help them stay safe this summer.
Both Hannah and Christopher had a blast the whole time they were at the event but one of my their favorites was the station where they got to color their own superhero mask. All the kids were enjoying this station which had me tempted to color my own mask.

Hannah was a little impressed with her superhero mask creation. She actually gave it to me after the event because I am her superhero.
