During the school year we keep the school’s lunch menu on the fridge. There are days that my kids want to eat lunch at school and there are days when they would rather bring a lunch from home. Since I want to make sure that my kids eat the lunch that they bring, I make sure to include some of their favorite foods and snacks like the Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish Crackers that are a staple in my pantry.
My seven year old son Christopher loves birds and one of his favorite types of birds would be the owl. This mom put on her creative hat and put together a plan to create an owl bento box style lunch that I know would get him excited.
I drew my lunch idea on paper and it came out exactly how I planned.
For this owl bento box lunch idea, here is what I used:
- Bread
- Sliced cheddar cheese
- Block cheddar cheese
- Preztel rods
- Marshmallow
- Candy eyes
- Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Crackers
- Cantaloupe
- Green grapes
- Blackberries
- Wet Ones
While cookie cutters might be made for cutting cookies, they work great in making cute shaped sandwiches and even fruit. My kids thought the star shaped cantaloupe was awesome which has me wanting to now buy more cute cookie cutters.
I mentioned before that the Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Crackers are a staple in my pantry. I have been buying these regularly for the last few years. My son LOVES these as a snack and also likes me to add them in his lunch. What I like is the variety. While we normally buy the original cheddar flavor, I sometimes surprise the kids with some of the other flavors. They were excited to try the S’mores flavor which is now one of our new favorites.
Now the Wet Ones are also a necessity in my son’s lunch. He is only 7 but is aware of germs and is always washing his hands. Including one of these handy Wet Ones individual packets in his lunch make it easy for my son to cleanup his hands and kill 99.9% of germs before heading back to class or the playground!
