One of my favorite stories growing up was Disney’s Pete’s Dragon. When my kids were old enough I couldn’t wait to introduce them to the story, especially my son who loves dinosaurs and dragons. On August 12th Disney fans are in for a little surprise….
A reimagining of Disney’s cherished family film, “Pete’s Dragon” is the adventure of an orphaned boy named Pete and his best friend Elliott, who just so happens to be a dragon.
In Disney’s Pete’s Dragon there is an old wood carver named Mr. Meacham who likes to tell the local children tales of a fierce dragon that lives deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. Mr. Meacham has a daughter Grace who is a forest ranger that thinks her father’s stories are just tall tales until she meets Pete, a mysterious 10 year old boy that claims has no family or home and lives in the wood with a giant green dragon named Elliot.
After realizing that Pete’s description of the dragon is similar to the dragon from her father’s stories she sets out on a mission to determine where Pete came from, where be belongs and the truth about the dragon.
I am so excited for this remake to come out. I think I will be making a movie date with my son because he is going to be just as excited! I will always love the classic Pete’s Dragon but anxious to see the new upcoming version.
