Disclosure – I was invited to the #ABCTVEvent. Costs and expenses for my trip were covered by Disney/ABC but all opinions expressed are my own.
This month during my trip to Los Angels I was able visit the ABC Studios and go behind the scenes with 24 other bloggers on the set of one of my newest favorites shows on ABC, The Catch.
When we first arrived at the studio our tour started with Costume Designer Peggy Schnitzer who showed us some of the costumes that have been on episodes that have already been aired and answered some of the many questions that we had for her.
I have been watching the show since it first aired and was really excited to see the beautiful wedding dress that ‘Alice Vaughn’ tries on in the first (pilot) episode. When asked about who made the dress Peggy said that she designed it just for the show which I think is amazing.
We also got to meet Carlos Zepeda, the show’s tailor who made the wedding dress that Peggy designed and tailored it to make it fit ‘Alice’ perfect. I also heard that Carlos will be making a cameo appearance in an upcoming episode which I will be looking out for.
Peggy not only showed us some of the gorgeous outfits from the show, she also explained just how detailed her team gets when keeping track of the costumes worn by each cast member. She told us that they document literally everything that the cast wears on every episode. When asked why is this necessary Peggy says they document everything for many different things including the times they have to do reshoots.
I think it is fun to find out how they keep track of their many costumes and where they purchase them from. I learned that they buy at both retail stores and online depending on how many pieces they want to buy. If they really like a piece they can go online and order duplicates.
In the studio they store the costumes on racks and they are organized by character. They also have dividers on those racks with dates on when the pieces are needed by.
Since I am a fan of the show I thought it was fun seeing some of the costumes for ‘Alice Vaughn’ that I have seen her wear on the past episodes. It was mentioned during the visit to Peggy that show’s photography feels like an older nineteen fifties and if she ties that into the show. She said that her choice is very sixties and early seventies because it has a sleek look for their bodies that looks really well. She also said she likes to stick to solids because it works best for this show.
While we were chatting with Peggy and asking her as many questions about the costumes that we could think of we got a surprise visit from Rose Rollins who plays the character of ‘Valerie Anderson’. Peggy showed Rose the books where they document all the costume details from each episode who was just as impressed as we were.
After we talked with Peggy and her team we made our way to the set of the show with Rose Rollins where I got to take lots of pictures that I am going to share on Part 2!
