Right now, summer vacation is in full effect for my kids! There hasn’t been an early bedtime schedule like normal and they have gotten to use their electronics more than usual. Technology is something that my whole family wants more of, but some days you just have to disconnect from technology and use your imagination! I like my electronic devices but I also love getting crafty. I also like getting my kids involved when it comes to craft time! We partnered with the Paper & Packaging – How Life Unfolds® campaign and got creative with paper and packaging to create some DIY Paper Pinwheels that are FUN and EASY to make.
DIY Paper Pinwheels
Supplies you will need:
- Pieces of packaging paper
- Paper straws
- Paper fasteners
- Scissors
- Hole punch
- Pencil
- Markers, gel pens, crayons (optional)
Step One: Cut the paper into 5″x5″ squares. Fold each square in half each way and then use a pencil to mark the center of the square and mark dots 1/2″ to 1″ away from the center.
Step Two: Next use scissors to cut a line down from each corner to the dots you marked near the center of the square. Use a hole punch to put a hole in the center and on the sides as shown below.
Step Three: Punch a hole in each of the paper straws you will be using with your hole punch.
Step Four: Next you are going to assemble your pinwheel. Use a paper fastener and put it through the four holes on the paper you punched and through the hole in the paper straw. Secure the pinwheel using the back of the paper fastener around the straw.
You can either leave these pinwheels plain or you can get creative and give them some pizzazz!
My daughter glued some pretty sequins onto her pinwheel to make hers a little more fancy!
After my daughter was done making this pretty paper pinwheel it was placed put it in my garden which made the perfect decoration for my succulent box.
