Sometimes being a woman is not always as easy or fun as men may think. Not when you are in your child bearing years and have that annoying period that comes every month. For some of us, it comes sooner and there is no stopping it. There are also many women who have heavy bleeding which is definitely NO fun whatsoever. This past month I learned that there are treatment options for heavy monthly bleeding that so many are not aware of.
I have 3 daughters and I know that I am in for it (at least stress wise). One of them has already started their period and another is going to happen any day now. The joys of the teenage years I tell you. When you are a mom with daughters, there are so many different things to worry about and periods is one of them! Knowing the answers before they ask is always helpful too!
According to a recent survey of a group of more than 500 Moms with common heavy monthly bleeding symptoms and discovered that:
- Heavy monthly bleeding symptoms impact daily routines. The vast majority (92%) agreed that the condition frustrates them, and more than two-thirds (68%) feel that their periods control them.
- Women don’t always know where to turn for help with heavy monthly bleeding symptoms. More than 75% of women don’t know help is available for their heavy periods. Less than half have spoken to their OB/GYN about their symptoms.
- Information and persistence may empower women to seek the right help. Of those who were satisfied with their treatment, 38% went to two or more visits with a health care professional before they found an option they liked.
