This?
For the last couple weeks I have really felt the need to have a new camera. When the point and shoot digital cameras came out, I had quite a few different ones and I took thousands of pictures. Then once I started using a smart phone, I normally just take pictures with my cell phone because it is easy. When you are a blogger, sometimes the easy way isn’t always the prettiest!
After going on a couple trips last month with bloggers and seeing them with all their fancy cameras, it has definitely made me want one extremely bad. After looking at the difference in pictures, I don’t have much motivation to take pictures for my blog with my cell phone.
So I either want a Nikon or a Canon. I want a DSLR and I want to spend under $1,000. I want it to take great photos but be not so complicated. I don’t like reading instructions so I like my gadgets to be easy to figure out.
Or that?
What do you recommend?
If you currently own a fancy camera which one do you use and why do you like it?

I have a Nikon D5100 (as does Alison) and I absolutely LOVE it. So I guess I’m on the Nikon vote.

I am interested to hear from everyone because I am in the market for a better camera…my nikon Coolpix ain’t cutting it! lol

Nikon. If you want something under 1k, and pretty easy to use, maybe you should even look into the Nikon 3100. It’s a good starter for DSLR newbies, or people that want to get the most out of the camera without reading through the manual, bc it “guides” you along the way. Nikon has great lenses, too.

Hubby has a Canon 30D that I steal ALL the time. It’s basically mine! LOL I’m trying to decide whether I want a newer one for myself or to keep sharing with him and just get the lens I want. I think they are both decent. It’s all in the glass that you chose!

Ooh, I’m outnumbered. I love my Canon XS. Would love to upgrade to a better dSLR later on. I love, love Canons. I used to shoot with a Canon Rebel 35mm back in film days.

Nikon all the way I have been a user nearly 5 years and bought two nikons because I love it.

I’m a Canon girl. Love that I don’t have to worry about lenses working or not.
I have a Canon XSi and plan on upgrading to the 60D when I can.

I am another Canon vote π I have only a Rebel Xti, but worked in a photography studio with Canon Mark III’s and 5D’s. They are amazing. I haven’t touched a Canon camera I haven’t liked, but it’s totally personal preference.

I recently purchased a Nikon D5100 and I really love it (though I don’t know how to use it to it’s full potential yet though lol). Previously I had a Canon point and shoot, which I really loved. I don’t think you can go wrong with either!

LOVE my Canon Rebel. I have a very base model and it’s fabulous.

I’m on the hunt for a new camera but I know that when I played with a Canon Rebel I was in love.

I’m a Canon girl myself. I have a Rebel and a Cybershot. Love them both.

I’m actually in the market for a camera. I shot with a few at my local camera shop and let me say.. I felt up a lot of cameras! I went through mid – to semi-pro of Canon and Nikon. Nikon just feels right to me. Canon is a little lighter. If I was to get a Canon it would definitely be a T3i. I am holding out.. I may get the Nikon 5100 but I really want the Nikon D7000. The lenses I want are over $500.. gasp.

Right now I am looking towards the Nikon 5100, but the Nikon D7000 does look super nice.
Price wise, I think the Nikon 5100 is more in my budget.
I have been hearing so much good talk of the Canon Rebel too!
Decisions decisions!

No fancy camera here. We just got a nicer point and shoot one … It would be nice to upgrade. I can say a big decision factor for us was the weight and the second one was the battery type it took! Good luck deciding!

This is always a big topic of debate but what I did was I went in Best Buy and picked up both cameras. Right away the Cannon felt cheap and the Nikon although heavier just melted into my hands. I ended up buying the Nikon D5000 and haven’t regretted a second of it.

I own a Canon and it’s great for the most part. I seriously had a hard time deciding between the Nikon and the Canon. I held the Nikon in my hand and was going to buy it but the Canon was on sale.. SOo SOLD> Good luck with your decision
