Did you know that you can make cakes in the microwave? For all these years, I had NEVER thought of cooking a cake in the microwave. I have always thought of my microwave as the appliance that cooks frozen food in just minutes. I have always just thought that making a cake takes at least 30+ minutes and I would never run myΒ microwave for that long. I was excited to find out that I can make myself a cake in my microwave. Now my diet just might be in trouble!
I now have a recipe book with all kinds of cakes that you can bake in the microwave. These are not regular size cakes though, these are cakes that you would cook in a mug. These are individual serving cakes but very fun to make. The book that I am referring to is “101 Recipes For Microwave Mug Cakes“. Now I don’t have to heat up my whole house baking a cake in the oven. I can make my kids individual cake treats in just minutes.
Here are some of my favorite microwave mug cake recipes in the book:
- Blueberry Muffin Microwave Mug Cake
- Chocolate Caramel Microwave Mug Cake
- Cranberry Lemon Microwave Mug Cake
Okay, there are some really interesting cakes in this book. There is even a Pizza Microwave Mug Cake. I have not tried it yet but will one day with the kids for something fun to do. I love that you can make these snacks in 10 minutes or LESS.

I love this from the FAQ “Q. How can I store an uneaten portion of the microwave mug cake for another day?
A. Don’t. By the next day, you can use the leftover cake as a paperweight. Besides, you’re always less than 10 minutes away from a new one. If you want to save some of your MMC for later the same day, however you can try plastic wrap (or plastic ware) and hope for the best.”
XD what great knowledge!
