I can’t believe we are just a couple days away from November. Before we know it, December will be here and the giving season will be in full effect. During the holidays people are more likely to feel the need to donate, but donating online isn’t always the safest way to donate so make sure you are prepared.
Here are a few important tips that Lifelock wants you to remember when using your information online:
Tips To Make Sure You Are Donating Online Safely
- When you are entering personal information, be sure there is a “https://” in the address bar. The “s” at the ends means that the website is secure.
- Research the organization first that you want to make a donation to. Make sure that it is legitimate and that you won’t be giving your money to a scam. Elaborate scams can happen on any third party website.
- Ignore almost all emails asking you to donate. If you don’t know the person personally that you are receiving the donation request from, be sure to delete the email and think of it as spam.
