Your home should be your safe haven. It’s the place of family dinners, TV show marathons, and where your kids have sleepovers. It’s where you celebrate events and holidays, take a dip in your pool and tend a garden. If any of these things were in jeopardy, your home is no long a place of enjoyment and relaxation.
To provide protection for the things you hold dear, tangible and intangible, should be of the utmost importance. That is where a home security system comes into play. Here are 4 advantages to owning a security system for your home:
Keep Peace of Mind
Unfortunately, crime happens everywhere and unless you take action and employ measures to keep criminals away, crime can happen to you and in your home. Given that new laptops, televisions, gaming systems and other electronics crop up on a continuous basis, it’s safe to assume that crime, or the effort of criminals to commit a burglary, has increased as well. It’s important now, more than ever, to project the items we own. A home security system will give you peace of mind so you know your tangible items are protected.
Safety for You and Your Family
Imagine being asleep in your home, along with the rest of your family, and waking up to the sound of a window breaking or a door being kicked in. Imagine the fear you’d feel upon waking up and either seeing a burglary in action, or realizing that someone unwelcome had been in your home. The thought is frightening, but it’s real.
Now imagine that you’re asleep in your home and hear the blasting siren of an alarm. It’s still a frightening thought, but produces less panic. Intruders don’t take the time to stay around for the police to show up once the alarm sounds. To opt for something more than the basic, home security camera systems are a great option. With these, watch your home from your mobile device or computer while you’re away, and make sure you are informed if there is danger lurking while you’re away from your home.
Lower Homeowner’s Insurance
Even though there is a cost to owning a home security system, having one can lower your homeowner’s insurance. Many insurance agencies want to reward you for being vigilant against the potential for crime. Depending on your insurance policy and the options available to you, you may even find that your insurance is lowered by how much the system cost in the first place.
Faster Emergency Assistance
Law enforcement officers are around for a reason, and will respond to emergencies as fast as possible, but if they are tipped off by an alarm system, a faster response time will follow. Without a home security system, homeowners or vigilant neighbors will have to call in a crime, go through the process of speaking to the emergency agent and then waiting for the officers to arrive at the scene. With a home security system in place, the process is quickened.
Why treat your home like anything other than a prized possession? To avoid any intruders and crime being conducted around and in your property, take precaution. Investing in a home security system will bring about a slew of benefits, with peace of mind and safety at the forefront. There are companies out there like ADT and Vivint that can help keep your home safe with security cameras and monitors. The Vivint price or ADT price that you pay per month, just might be worth the relief that you will feel knowing that your home secure.

Having a home security system is definitely having a piece of mind and knowing that your family is safer. Hopefully that alarm sound would scare off whoever is trying to break in.

We have a vicious German Shepherd as our security system! LOL No, really I would love to have a good system. Especially these days!

A good Home Security system is so important in this day and age because of all the burglaries. There are a lot of home burglaries and home invasions where they will break into your home with you in the house. They do not care anymore. I have motion sensors and a good barking dog that helps me know when someone is around.

I have a security system and cameras. I also think these systems can be good for elderly people living on their own, since they can call for help if they have a medical emergency too, if they get one of those keychains they can carry with them with a panic button.

I didn’t know homeowners insurance was lower if you had a security system. I’m sure Hubs knew of course 🙂
