If you are in the Sacramento area, there is a family event next weekend that you might want to attend if you are interested in the wildlife. On July 13 & 14, the DoubleTree Hotel will be hosting the Pacific Flyaway Decoy Association 43rd Annual Classic Wildlife Festival!
Each year, birding enthusiasts, wood carvers and artists gather to either show off their skills in the carving competition, walk around and enjoy the wildlife artwork, or have their kids participate in the “hands on” art and educational activities. Children can join mini “How To” workshops and paint different animals, learn about bird migration, or simply watch the many fascinating demonstrations throughout each day.
My 5 year old son happens to LOVE birds. This event is something that would be perfect for him, so I am marking it on my calendar. I think he would really enjoy this hands on experience. There is also going to be raffles and door prizes too!
The best part of this event is the price. Tickets are sold at the door for only $5 for the weekend with children under 12 are FREE!

I would like to go to this event, but I live to far away, and it sure is very inexpensive to go for only $5 dollars each with under 12 free. I like looking at all the neat decoy items that are displayed and finding out what it is all about. Kids would love this event!

This is so much fun. They have one of these in our area–I guess the Southern Version–and I love seeing all the handcrafted items.
