Staying in style and being fashionable is not always cheap. I have two teenagers that have wants and it can be hard to keep them in style without breaking the bank. Below are some tips to help you stay fashionable, but on a budget.
- Raid your friends closet – If you have a friend that has a ton of clothes that you like, raid their closet. I am sure your friend would be willing to give you clothes they no longer need. You might be able to give them back some clothes of yours that you no longer want.
- Shoes can be important when it comes to your outfit. Make sure to try to find the brand names you like when they are on SALE. Look for the sales where you can get a discount for buying ore than one.
- Shop at your local thrift store for named brand clothes and accessories – You will be surprised just how much named brand clothes you can find for cheap. I found a real Gucci purse at the Goodwill last year and only spent a couple bucks.
- If you look good you will want to smell good. Instead of buying expensive bottles of perfume, go with the discount perfume brands instead. There are a lot of cheaper brands that smell just as good.
- Avoid high end stores. If you love named brand items, stay clear of these stores because you don’t want to spend your whole paycheck.

My daughter is queen of thrifting. She finds the absolute best treasures when she goes. Super high value items for a fraction of what they would cost in regular stores. I don’t know how she has an eye that spots it all!

These are great tips. We have 6 kids and all of us are pretty picky about brand name clothes. We shop at Goodwill, Salvation Army and Plato’s Closet and find all of our brand name jeans, hoodies and other clothes for GREAT prices! Our shoes we usually end up buying and paying full price for however we try to hit the stores when it’s buy one, get one 1/2 off – and that helps save a LOT. We also do freecycle. Freecycle is like garage sailing – but through email and it’s all free. So you post to the group and ask for whatever you need… and whoever has it will let you know. I LOVE it!

My daughter loves brand name clothing and used to hate thrift stores. Now that she is a college student, guess where she goes? No more complaints of “I don’t wear used clothing!” lol She just found a jacket that sells for $298 online for $6.

Sometimes I shop off-season and that saves me a lot of money. Of course you can’t always do that for kids because they grow so sporadically but for us moms, it works! Great tips!

Sharing shoes is the best. My sister and one of my best friends – we all wear the same size and it’s wonderful.
