This is a sponsored post with Mums the Word Network and Doctor on Demand. All opinions are my own.
One thing that can be a bummer is when the kids get sick. I remember when I didn’t have medical insurance and I would have to take my daughter to the minor emergency and pay $$$$ for visits when they were not really needed. What I think is really neat is the EASY access to doctors today.
Instead of getting in the car (sick or maybe even in pain) and driving to a doctor to ask for advice, you can get it online or even hop on your smartphone and talk to a doctor live, get advice and also get prescriptions if needed. Doctor On Demand is a healthcare service that provides Video Visits with board certified physicians, psychologists, and lactation consultants via smartphones, tablets, and desktop computers.
To access service you can download the Doctor On Demand app on a smartphone or tablet or desktop computer, provide a list of your symptoms and be instantly connected to a provider licensed in your state for a video visit.
Being able to NOT have to leave your home to get advice from a doctor is a HUGE benefit in my opinion. I love the option of being able to do a video visit with a doctor instead of in their office.
I would rather NOT take my children that are running a fever out in public to spread the germs. I know I would rather stay at home too!
Doctor On Demand is free to register (the app is free to download). Right now Doctor On Demand has a promotion where you can get your first visit with a doctor for FREE. Use the promo code”mommy15” for your FREE video visit! Visit: www.doctorondemand.com

I keep seeing this around and while I concede that for small matters it probably would be a good answer-instead of trudging to the doctors office and then waiting. For myself it might not work since usually if I go to a doctor it is x-ray time –so all these Doctors could or should tell me is go see your doctor!

I had never heard of this. Thank you for the post.

This is so nice when you can’t make it to the doctor, you’re out of town or you’re not even sure you should go!

This would be great to try out for free the first time and see how it works! I would love to try this in the Winter when it is hard to get out and see a doctor!

This is such a great service. Sometimes packing kids for a sunday urgent care is just too much for a simple diagnosis https://www.parentinghealthy.com/

Thanks so much for sharing Doctor on Demand. I can think of several instances that this would have been helpful vs sitting and waiting hours at the doctors office.

I may be biased here, but my concern with Dr. on Demand is that the doctor won’t know the family’s complete medical history. And the family calling might not think that a pre-existing condition or family situation might matter. For example, some kids go to the doctor with severe abdominal pain and vomiting when the family is going through a divorce or after moving or other major changes. A good family doctor would be aware of these things and not assume virus is the automatic cause. I guess I’m leery of over-simplified medicine —- we don’t do Mechanic on Demand. Right?

I love this! Sometime you just need to ask a question or get advice on how to care for something without sitting in an infectious doctor’s office that could make you worse. This is great!!

I love having this option if I am ever too sick to get to the doctors office. I know they will be great for asking general questions and treating minor complaints like a stomach bug, uti, sinus infection.

This is the first time I have heard of this service! This is such a great alternative to have if unsure of an illness or treatment without having to go to a crowded waiting room.

I’m not sure how comfortable I feel about a doctor not being able to take my vital signs but there are also many times I’ve emailed my doctor for things I felt I could comfortably get information about through email. So I think this would be really fantastic.
