To have a successful film, you got to have a good director.  The film director is the one that controls the artistic and dramatic aspects of the film. The director works with the producers and the songwriters to determine the best ways to visually present the ideas that are being put together for the film. The director also has the final say in who will be chosen for each cast member. Without a good director, you probably won’t have a very good film.

This month during the Muppets Most Wanted Press Junket at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, our group was able to interview James Bobin, the director of “Muppets Most Wanted” as well as “The Muppets” that came out in 2011. James Bobin also happened to be at the after party that I attended for the Muppets Most Wanted Red Carpet Premiere. Always smiling, just like Ricky.

Our interview with James Bobin went pretty well and our group got to ask him some great questions. It was a great experience just being in the room with such a talented man with such a cool accent.

So here are are few of the questions from our interview that I want to share:

Who is the most difficult Muppet to work with?

Bobin: I’ll let you guess who the most difficult Muppet is who I work with. None of them, they’re all a total joy to work with. I’m a huge fan, I grew up watching the Muppets as a kid, so working with them for me is like working with my heroes.

Muppets Most Wanted has a very international flavor. Was there any thought to stopping in Sweden for the Swedish Chef?

Bobin: No, because then you’d tell he’s not Swedish. What he speaks is some weird amalgam of Jim Henson’s kind of rubbishy Swedish, like made-up Swedish. So obviously they had him talking and then someone actually speaking real Swedish, they’d go, “Hang on a minute that’s not the same thing.” So no we’ were very particular to avoid Sweden.

What would you say is the toughest scene you had to film?

Bobin: Every scene’s pretty difficult. The Muppets is not an easy thing to shoot.

Have you started on the next Muppet movie?

Bobin: No, too tired, sorry. I’m exhausted. Ask me again in another year’s time. I love working with these guys, and as you know they’re my heroes, so I really loved it. I would love to do more because this is really fun. I mean, I’m incredibly lucky to have this job. It’s like my dream.

The locations were largely chosen because I’m a fan of those kind of old-style caper movies and they’re always in places like Monte Carlo and Berlin and Madrid. It’s a very international feel. I like the idea of Muppets going global. That to me is interesting, that it’s not just about U.S. and the U.K. But they have a global interest. And that’s really, a fun thing to me.

For musicals, I think that Muppets Most Wanted would have to be my new favorite. I have been listening to the sountrack daily since I seen the film, the songs are so catchy. For those that enjoy the music aspect to these films, check out this video with songwriter Brett McKenzie and James Bobin.

Last week when I was in Hollywood for the Muppets Most Wanted Press Junket, we got the opportunity to take pictures with Miss Piggy and Kermit.

Now I have been jealous of all the other pictures of my fellow blogger friends with Miss Piggy and Kermit in the past. I have been a fan of the Muppets since I was a child and was excited to finally be able to get a picture with my two favorite Muppets myself. I was even able to get another photo of me trying to kiss Kermit when Miss Piggy wasn’t looking with my iPhone.

After we took our pictures and even got our nails done we were able to sit down in a special room at the Beverly Hilton and interview Miss Piggy, Kermit and even Constantine, the world’s most dangerous frog!

This was one of my MOST favorite interviews ever.  Not only was this interview interesting, it was very humorous too! Even though we weren’t allowed to film this special event, I have the interview recorded so that you can hear the interview rather than read the questions. Don’t get me wrong, the interview would be funny to read but I think you would enjoy the audio version instead.

So on Monday I shared that I attended the Muppets Most Wanted Red Carpet Premiere in Hollywood at the El Capitan for Muppets Most Wanted. I told you how I enjoyed the movie and all the attention walking into the theater. What I didn’t tell you about was the fun time that I had at the after party. The party that is for VIP guests only that were at the Red Carpet Premiere.

To get in the party, you had to have one of these.

Once the Muppets Most Wanted movie was over everyone headed outside the theater and was directed to walk across the street to the Dolby Theatre and to the Annex Room where the after parties are held.

Once you are inside the Annex Room, the fun begins. Not only will you find tables with fancy hors d’oeuvres, a bar to quench your thirst and games to keep the kids busy, you are also going to have access to most of the celebrities that were in attendance at the premiere. If you are lucky and get a chance to hang out and chat with them and maybe get a picture or two.

Being the Muppets fan that I am. I was excited that The Frugal Mom and I got to take a picture with Eric Jacobson (voice of Miss Piggy) and Matt Vogel (voice of Constantine). They were the funny bunch at the party and even talked to me and Dawn in their Muppets voices.

It wouldn’t be a Muppets Most Wanted party without Ricky Gervais who plays Constatine’s sidekick Dominic in the movie. Every time I seen Ricky, he had the biggest grin on his face. Either that or he was just really happy to see me. :

Now the picture above was taken with my 50mm lens. Had I been more prepared I would have got a better picture, but I was going to settle with what I could get. Luckily my friend Sam was able to have someone take a picture of us three with her cell phone to capture the moment.

Another person I was able to meet and take a picture with was Terry Crews. He is one actor I find hilarious and it was a pleasure getting to meet him as well as put my arm around him for a picture. Next time I see one of his movies, I am going to think about this picture I have.

Out of all the celebrities there, I think most the ladies had their eyes on Josh Grobin. Although I didn’t get a picture with him, I did get a picture of him at the party.

Not only was there maybe a chance at taking pictures with a celebrity or two, there were also lots of different photo opps for those that like to take fun pictures like I do.

If you watch the movie, you will see this funny big CIA badge in the movie. I had to take a picture with it.

I got my nails done previously by OPI with the new Muppets Most Wanted Limited Edition colors but it was fun watching Skai Jackson who plays Zuri Ross on Disney’s show Jesse get her nails done Muppets Most Wanted style.

Before the night was over I was able to chat with G. Hannelius and Francesca Capaldi from Dog With A Blog as well as Skai. I let them know that my daughter Hannah was a big fan of both shows and they agreed on letting me get a picture to brag with.

When I showed my daughter Hannah this picture she told me, “you are soooo lucky mom”. What I didn’t tell Hannah was that our group got to walk to the elevator with Skai and her mom. They took the elevator while we took the stairs.

These are just some of the great photos I was able to capture for the evening. It was a night I will remember forever. I might just have to publish another post with the other fun pictures I got.
