This month I learned about the Champion For Kids organization. This is an organization that was founded in 2004 that has been helping to improve the lives of children in different communities all across America and beyond. On their website you can find Simple Service Projects that help you with ideas on how you can help children in need in your community.
I am currently working on my second Simple Service Project this month for Champion For Kids. I am currently working on the Spinbrush Spin Into Action project where I am asked to gather my family, friends and co-workers to provide toothbrushes, toothpaste and other dental care items for children in my community.
By gathering these dental care donations and giving to a community in my area in need, I know my efforts can Help Them Smile! Over 19% of children ages 2 through 19 have untreated cavities and tooth decay is one of the most common diseases of childhood. I know that I can’t help everyone, but I know whatever donation I can come up with is going to help some children in my community.
Today I went on a shopping trip to Walmart in search of the Arm & Hammer Spinbrush toothbrushes. I did find some of the toothbrushes, but they didn’t have that big of a variety. Now the store had a whole isle full of toothbrushes, toothpaste and other dental products, just not a huge selection of the Arm & Hammer Spinbrushes yet.
Here is just some of the selection of the kid’s toothbrushes at Walmart. I know that they make the Spinbrushes for kids but I didn’t see any. Since this is not my normal Walmart that I regularly shop at I am going to look the next time I am shopping to see if my preferred store has them.
Then there is the other children’s oral care products that I found. I like that Walmart not only has a good variety of toothbrushes and toothpaste for kids, they also have children’s mouthwash and rinse products too!
To see more pictures of my shopping trip and my donation, visit my #SpinbrushCFK Google + Album. I will be adding more pictures to this album once I have more dental care items in my donation box.
Over the next week I am going to ask my friends, family and maybe a few of my neighbors if they want to add to my #SpinbrushCFK donation. Right now I plan on giving my donation to the Children’s Receiving Home Of Sacramento. This is a safety net for the Sacramento area’s abused and neglected children between the ages of 1 and 17. This is one place that I know that my donation will be appreciated and go to good use.
Like I mentioned previously, this is my second Simple Service Project For Champion For Kids that I am participating in this month. I know that my donation isn’t much, but I know it will help others in need and I love the feel of giving back. Now that I know about the Champion For Kids organization, I definitely want to participate in more of the Simple Service Projects and I encourage you to participate in at least one of them if you can afford to donate!
