Disney’s Animal Kingdom Wild Africa Trek Experience – #DisneyGlobalEvent

During the #DisneyGlobalEvent last month, we had the opportunity to get the experience the Wild Africa Trek at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Up until last month and maybe being from California,  I had only actually heard of Animal Kingdom. I did not know about the private VIP safari expedition that you can find inside the park, that isn’t always easy getting a reservation for.

When I first heard we were going on the Wild Africa Trek, I didn’t know what to expect, but I was excited. I had already accepted the fact that I was going to have to be brave and go zip lining, so going to a place with animals sounded more like fun than scary.

Once we arrived at the area at Animal Kingdom for the Wild Africa Trek, we were broken into two groups and were assigned a tour guide to help us get geared up, fill our water bottles and put on our VIP name badges.

When we were asked to put on their gear, I was thinking in my head we must be really going on some kind of adventure. I then was worried that I shouldn’t have brought my camera, but after looking around, I seen the guides with fancy cameras around their neck that kind of reassured me that my camera was going to be okay.

After we were all geared up, our group each had to pass a trek test. Once everyone completed the test, we were on our way for a 3 hour Wild Africa Trek adventure! This is where the fun begins and I am going to share with you a few things about my experience. While 3 hours seems long, it seemed to go by too fast.

At the beginning of my adventure I got to cross over a wild and wobbly swing bridge where I seen some BIG Nile crocodiles just a few feet below me.

Not only did I see some BIG crocodiles, I also seen some HUGE hippos and learn a few things about them I didn’t know. What is neat is you get to view these hippos from the river’s edge while fitted with an expedition harness that attaches to an overhead track to prevent us from falling in.

Since I LOVE giraffes, one of my FAVORITE parts of the Wild Africa Trek was getting CLOSE to these cute giraffes. If only we could have pet them!

Normally I would share more details about this trip, because know I have a ton of pictures, but I don’t want to spoil all the surprises for you.If you love to experience the outdoors and you love animals, I want you to experience the Wild Africa Trek At Disney’s Animal Kingdom too!

I think this might call for a family outing.

My Experience At Boggy Creek Airboat Rides

As a child, I remember watching the show “The Everglades” with my dad. I remember watching  the show and wishing that I could ride on one of those neat airboats that you see Ron Hayes flying through the swamp waters in.

My Wild Adventure At Florida EcoSafaris

I am afraid of heights, but I am always up for an adventure.  I believe that we only live once, so I want to experience as many of the fun parts of life as I can while I am here. I actually have always thought of zip lining as something a little on the wild side and something that I probably would never get a chance to do. That was until I was invited to Florida for the #DisneyGlobalEvent and going to Florida EcoSafaris was on the agenda of places our group was going to see.

I had already heard of Florida EcoSafaris from a reading a few of my friends blogs online. I had seen pictures of them zip lining and remembering thinking to myself, “they are crazy”. When I found out I was going, I was excited and thought to myself, I am up for a challenge and now I get to be the crazy one too!

Now here is the platform that you have to climb for a journey of SEVEN different zip lines

And I was brave and completed all 7 zip lines

At first I was afraid, but it got easier each time!

My roommates on the trip also had fun zip lining with me!

After I was done with the Zipline Safari that consisted of zip lining to SEVEN different platforms, I was ready for more adventure. I was lucky and we also had time to try the new Rattlesnake Roller Coaster Zip Line. This is the first ride of its kind in the US and it just opened last month to the public. This is a zip line has you launching from a 65 foot platform that takes you flying through the trees, swinging, swooping and dipping through 1000 feet of adventure at speeds up to 20 MPH. This ride is a zip line that feels like a roller coaster and it is a BLAST!

Now that I am back home, I want to go back. At Florida EcoSafaris there is more adventures waiting for me. In addition to the two different zip lines adventures I got to experience, they also have a cypress canopy cycle ride, a coach safari, horseback safari, the Peregrine Plunge, the Panther Pounce, the Swooping Crane and more.
