One thing that really quenches my thirst is Gatorade. I have been a fan of this product for many faithful years. I actually started drinking Gatorade when I played softball in my young teen years. When I started drinking Gatorade, there were only a few flavors to choose from. I loved the Lemon-Lime flavor and Fruit Punch. For some reason, the Orange flavor doesn’t float my boat. Now, years later, there are many more flavors and options when it comes to purchasing Gatorade.
If you have a young athlete, it is VERY important to keep them hydrated. Moms, water is NOT enough. Gatorade supplies the proper amount of fluid, electrolytes and carbohydrates to rapidly put back what your young athlete loses in sweat and provides energy to keep them going.
Something to ponder – In drinking water, the brain may turn off the perception of thirst before the body’s overall fluid needs are met and stops the athlete from fully rehydrating. The electrolytes in Gatorade help maintain the stimulus to drink so athletes drink enough to replenish and refuel .
I recently had the opportunity to try Gatorade’s low calorie G2 in 3 yummy flavors. I tried the Fruit Punch, Grape and Glacier Freeze. Of course the Fruit Punch was my favorite. I did enjoy all three flavors though. I actually bought and drank another Gatorade Fruit Punch during my grocery shopping trip today!
Moms, team up with Gatorade in an effort to Beat The Heat. The type of sports equipment that is being used really does makes a difference. To keep your child safe from the heat, be sure to have them wear light net-type jerseys, t-shirts and shorts, change sweat-soaked clothing, avoid wearing excess clothing, remove helmets when not playing and remember to especially stay hydrated.
You can help- download a FREE Gatorade Heat Safety Kit. This kids includes various education resources from the Gatorade Sports Science Institute. It also includes an explanation about the “4 Downs” of Heat Safety – Prevent, Prepare, Proper Hydration, Plan – which athletes, parents and coaches should consider before engaging in practice or other strenuous physical activity in hot weather. Guess what? For every unique download of this free kit, Gatorade will donate $1 to “Beat the Heat” charities up to $20,000.
“I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Gatorade’s “Beat the Heat” campaign and received Gatorade samples to facilitate my candid review. Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.”
