This weekend I had a LeapFrog Learn, Create and Share party! I thought it was cute when I told the kids were were having a frog party, so my two youngest went through the house in search for all their froggy friends. I didn’t realize just how many frog stuffed animals we had until our party!
We started the party off with some pepperoni pizza. Since this was a party for the kids, I knew that pizza was going to be a PLUS. After dinner, I introduced the LeapFrog Tag World Map. When I first opened the box, I was thinking that the kids were not going to be that excited about a map. What I didn’t know was everything that this interactive world map offers.
With the LeapFrog Tag World Map, you use the Tag Reading System to select certain parts on the map that will cause the Tag reader to say information. For example, with this map you can have a challenge. The Tag reader will tell you to find a country, then you have to hurry and touch it with the Tag Reading System. Once you find the country and select it, it will then tell you a different country to find. There is also a Treasure Hunt that is also fun where you find a secret country and it gives you clues along the way to find it.
This is two sided map that provides all sorts of fun facts for children. On the opposite side, your children can use the Tag reader to click on children from other countries to learn different things about them. For instance, when you click each child on this map, it will tell you what they like to eat for breakfast where they live. Not only will this map teach your child some fun facts about the different countries, this map can also help your child develop map skills!
After everyone had fun with the map, I decided it would only be fair to show them the LeapFrog LeapPad that I had been secretly hiding. I knew the kids were going to go nuts for this toy and I was right. All of the kids including my two oldest daughters wanted to play with it. I think the biggest attraction to the LeapFrog LeapPad is the camera and video camera. With this fun toy, the kids can play apps, read ebooks, watch videos and even take pictures and videos like mom and dad does!
The LeapFrog LeapPad is designed for children from 4 to 9 years of age, but I think it is fun for all ages. This is a tablet that features a 5 inch touchscreen display that offers a resolution of 480x-272 pixels. It also comes with 2GB of built in storage for the apps, videos, pictures and such that your child will save. In addition to the built in camera I already mentioned, it also has an accelerometer, stylus and a microphone.
At the end of the party, we enjoyed some of my froggy cupcakes. There were fun to make and my son thought it was awesome being able to eat the frogs eyes.
You can purchase cartridges for the LeapPad as well as ebooks, apps, games and more online via the LeapFrog Connect program. My children did not want to go to bed the night of the party and actually cried when I put it away. When my youngest two woke up, the LeapPad was the first thing they wanted to play with. I am just excited that they are so eager to play with something that is education and fun at the same time.
