The other day, I experienced what you would call a moms worst nightmare. My son got into my Victoria Secret body spray and sprayed some in his mouth. He came to me screaming, gagging and I was in FEAR. I grabbed the bottle and it had no instructions for if the stuff was ingested. I smelled the inside of his mouth and it smelled strongly of Love Spell. I think my son thought the bottle was some sort of candy, it smelled sweet and had a spray bottle just like those spray bottles of candy.
I was in an EXTREME PANIC and the anxiety of overwhelming. In the first few seconds or maybe first minute, I didn’t honestly know what to do. I yelled for my husband who came in panicking as well. The only thing I knew to do was call 911. I have had nightmares of calling 911 and them putting me on hold, thankfully this did not happen. The 911 operator was very polite and got me on the phone with the poison control in seconds. As I was talking to the poison control people on the line, the firetruck and ambulance arrived.
Luckily my son did not ingest enough to cause much harm, but it was a total SCARE. I think he was just afraid of all the men in uniform that rushed into my house and forgot about the yucky taste in his mouth. They techs were nice and gave both my son and his sister Hannah a plastic fireman hat and stickers.
I now have the Poison Control Number handy if this should ever happen again. I have four children and have never had them swallow anything poisonous. I remember my mom always having that poison control number on the fridge, now I know why.
My son is doing just fine now. It was a scare and definitely something I NEVER want to happen again. From what I was told by poison control, this type of call is common (but not for me). I will keep their number handy, but pray that I will never have to use it!
